I know a lot of people take their car to a shop to have a clear bra professionally installed, but have any of you bought a kit like this and done it yourself?
I'd like to get some thoughts/opinions, and possibly hear from somebody that has done it themselves.
I did mine.. There was a short time when I needed a third hand and the next time I'll clay the car before installing.. I washed it twice but still missed a few pieces of dirt.. You wouldn't notice unless you looked..
I used InvisibleMask instead of 3m because it seemed a little better..
I do it again.. It's really not all that hard but you need to take your time.
Well the kit may be legit. You have to watch eBay as there are a lot of compnaies selling clear vinyl and saying it is paint portection film. So basically they are getting ripped off. Looking at the price I am guessing its the real film although I think 3M is a crappy film. It has too much orange peel in it for me and is hard to install. I use VentureShield Ultra primarily because it has no orange peel and comes with a lifetime warranty. Its a little easier to install too.... stretches a little more easily than 3M. Either way I really wouldnt recommend the C5 as a self install for the amature unless you have A LOT of patience. It can be difficult for somoene who has never tried it before and I would hate to see you end up throwing your bumper kit away... which I have seen happen often. The hood and fenders are pretty easy... mirrors can be tricky, and the liscense plate cover is easy.
PM me if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help you out.
I would'nt attempt it , my guy spends hours and he know's what
he is doing. OK if it takes 2 hours on the bumper , it will take you
8 .
My time is more valuable.Good luck how ever you go.

After watching a pro install the 3M vinyl on my DD and on select parts of my '03 coupe, I sure wouldn't want to tackle that job myself. That stuff is too expensive to mess something up. Besides, the guy that did mine had to trim some pieces on the car and I don't think I would trust myself with a razor blade against the painted surfaces.

The only way the clear bras work is if they are professionally installed (unless you really know what you are doing). For a little more money, you can have it done. They came to my house and did the nose and mirrors for $350. Take a look at "Autobahnd".
