Default Z51?

I did a quick search and I couldnt find it but here it goes:

I recently bought a 2001 Vert with an A4 transmission. I asked the owner if it had the Z51 package and he told me he thinks so. How can I double check this? I dont think it had any special brakes like the C6 Z51, but I cant tell from that anyways because it has Baer EradiSpeeds drilled/slotted now. Can someone please tell me a way to tell if I have Z51? Also, does that mean I still have the 2.73 axle ratio? Thanks/

I have a 2004 vert with the Z51 package. It included the FE3 sport suspension package (special shocks & springs and bigger F&R torsion bars) plus a power steering cooler.

The axle ratio I believe was ordered separately.

You're right about the upgraded brakes; they did not come with the Z51 option until 2005!

Yes, the RPO sticker is located in the glove box. If it list the Z51 it will have the Performance Handling Package. For gear ratio look for the following, GU2 = 2.73 ratio, G90 = 3.15 ratio, and GU6 = 3.42 ratio.

The RPO sticker in the glove box will tell you if it came factory equipped witht he Z51 package.
The challenge is if the previous owner changed anything....
Most likely change would be shocks as they are the one component of the package that wears.
One wouldn't normally replace sway bars unless they went bigger
and even if the power steering cooler leaked It would most lilkely be replaced. it is a silver colored mini radiator ( about 15" long, 1 " thick and 3 " high) located between the radiator and the steering rack.

Z51 in an automatic was only available with the 3.15 rear gear.

As others have said check the RPO.
You can look at the differental and see if the tag says 3.15, 3.15 was part of the Z51 package.
