Default GM bra/can it cause overheating issues?

A quick question for anyone who has a GM bra- We were going to be taking off in a couple of weeks for an extended road trip. I have a GM bra I purchased for my '97 and have never used it on my Z. If anyone has one, have you noticed any overheating issues? Looks like the clear plastic blocks the screens, didn't think much air flowed through there anyway. Obviously we will be traveling in hot weather so was curious if this would be an isssue. I'm guessing it wouldn't be on the highway but wondered about city type/congested traffic situations. Was just trying to get away from the bug/road debris isssue. Never had it on for our short hauls so it hasn't been an issue. Thanks.

I've used my GM Bra on several long trips, and never experienced any rise in operating temperatures. The screened area, if it has not been modified to allow additional airflow into the engine compartment, really doesn't do much. The air dam under your car primarily directs air where it needs to be.

I don't use mine often, but I have been on vacation in some very hot weather with it on with no issues.

Your car is a bottom breather the screens on your Z are there for fresh air to the intake only.
If your really worried about it just buy a new Bra for the Z!

Unless you have a Z06 or have done the "hole saw" mod no air goes through that opening anyway.

Drive safe, have a nice trip.

From what I understand, the GM bra for the Z06 does not have those plastic pieces that go over the fog light area. I would say that if you are worried about it, you could possibly cut some holes in the plastic to allow air to flow through to the intake. I doubt it will cause any overheating issues since the air to the radiator comes in through the bottom.

That's what I did when I had the vararam on my car. I punched 1" holes in the plastic area for the intake.
