Running Talladega Speedway, etc...
A few photos to document our adventure...
Stopped at a BBQ joint on the way down from Cincinnati, finger lickin good.

The party at the museum Friday night was well attended

The museum had many iconic artifacts such as this one

On my way to the garage area to wait for the first run

Drivers meeting to go over the do's and don'ts

The event was well attended

Lining up the cars went like clockwork, the volunteers did an exellent job!

Patriotism was abound for the July fourth weekend

Staging was smooth and organized

The pace car was moving right along between 80~100mph depending on conditions

Both runs involved high speeds(140+ mph)

Cooling down after running the track

This is what all day in the heat does to you

Stopped in Nashville on the way back and partied with some great friends we met in Talladega...honkytonkin all night long!

This intersection in Nashville seemed like an odd combination of street names

We will be there again next year 4 sure!

I hit 140+mph several times and I heard of folks hitting as high as 160mph!
This video shows the HUD in the windshield hitting 143mph at one point:

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
We'll be at the National Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green in a few weeks and another track event in Atlanta in the fall.

I was right behind the Pace car in both sessions so I caught him pretty quick in the straights and never had the opportunity to reach the 140+ mark. I ran at those speeds in both 5 lap sessions. The turns are steep at 16 to 33 degrees and the feeling going around them at 100mph just has to be experienced. Can't wait until next year!
I remember seeing your C5 in the garage.
I coordinated with the others in the group to go into the turns slow and nail it 1/2 way through. This made reaching high speeds easy while keeping things relatively safe

It was well worth our 1000 mile roundtrip
