Is there anyone out there that likes to was wash and detail their car as much as driving it? Don't get me wrong I love driving my C5 but to detail it is an endless joy!
I enjoy washing and detailing my C5. First, it really doesn't take that long because it's not a large vehicle. Second, because it's not a family hauler, I don't have to perform the "deep cleaning" necessary in my other vehicles.
Because I live in Florida and I own a convertible, I spend a little more time and energy in conditioning the vinyl, leather and other interior sections.
My pet peeve is that I drive though connecting HOA and CDD areas whereas they have various common area watering schedules. Nothing worse than driving a clean Vette through hard-water "street lakes" on a beautiful sunny day.

The same people who have in ground sprinkler systems that water the asphalt are the very same ones who would bust your chops for "wasting water" on car washing!

Tell me about it! In 2009, Florida had a severe dry season drout. Watering restrictions were put in place, etc. I supported the cause, however the same HOA close-minded knuckleheads that never entertained any creative ideas outside of their own, were quick to slap a fine on anyone bucket-washing their cars on the weekend, but yet couldn't figure out how to turn off the common area sprinkler systems during a rainstorm!

yup...
Another part of my enjoyment of this hobby. You could eat off any part of my car at any given time....
Its when I break out the Q-tips that my wife rolls her eyes....
Washing and detailing is a Friday afternoon ritual in preparation of "date night" with the wife. So, the first "rush" comes from the one on one with the mistress, and the second greater rush comes from cruising with my best friend and companion. So for me, both!

Toque
I do the same thing, and i get the same results.
But she enjoys the car as much as me.
Now be honest..........how many of you after that wash and detail go for a drive and sneak a quick peek in windows as you drive by? Guilty here!!!
Absolutely! One of my favorite errands is to my bank ATM. It's located next to a full-mirrored building. When you pull into the ATM wrap-around driveway, it's like your Vette is on a super model catwalk. You see it from 3 different angles! I actually drove the car through the ATM driveway after I installed my HID/LEDs just to make sure everything was working correctly.
If a cop saw me, he probably thought I was trying to rob the bank!

I get a charge out of detailing it, then taking it to Costco to fill the tank...there's always someone commenting how great it looks...I tell them it's a 97 and they drop their jaws....I try to be as humble as I can, but the grin can't be prevented...gotta love this car til I die.
Everytime I take mine or the wife's out, it gets dusted off and the wheels clean and all bugs off. I never Leave it dusty or dirty. I enjoy it also. They are not DD......

I have been on cruises with my club and and on more than one occassion, a non-Vette owner and Vette admirer, has commented that they thought my C5 was the newer of the models and that includes some C6s. One guy could not believe my vert was 6 years old.
