Ok, took delivery of my new '03 and the drivers side headlight when turned off after being in the on position goes down but it is if the motor doesn't know its down and keeps running for 5-8 sec. then motor shuts down. Insight to my situation would be helpful. And will both eventually go out? -kid

Sounds like the gears are going out, check out this web page and you might as well replace both gears as the other head light will fail eventually.
Ditto on headlight motor. I ordered the same kit from rodneydickman.com and worked like a charm. I looked at the instructions with the kit and this video helps too. http://www.streetfire.net/video/corv...air_136150.htm
Oh, one thing I wish I did when I had it all apart was change out the headlight bulbs.
It was a great time to change the bulbs as you have lots of room and they are right there.

Before you replace the motor, make sure the linkage that attaches to the headlamp frame to the motor is securely tightened. If this nut is loose, the symptoms you describe will also occur. And it's an easy fix. Just tighten the nut to the stud.
Looks like you guys got this covered... I had that issue on my old Firebird. I just did the brass gear and never thought about it ever again... Until the lid for the gear blew off. I ended up just buying a new GM motor assembly and finally got some peace from the situation.
