want a C5
A) You take it to the stealership. Your own fault in that case.
B) You don't maintain the car and something serious breaks. Again, your own fault.
C) You don't come to the forum, search around, maybe ask a question or two, and get help on how to do this yourself or get to a reputable shop. Your fault.
D) $*#& happens and something big breaks despite proper maintenance, which is just as likely in ANY vehicle no matter what. Not your fault, OR the 'Vette's fault.
In closing, you don't have to have a ton of money to own a C5. I am 23 years old, have no college education, make pretty damn good money (military training pays off), and could afford a second 'Vette if I wanted one, in addition to my mortgage and current payment for my '03. I have money set aside for maintenance if problem D above occurs, but everyone should have that before they so much as move out of Mommy and Daddy's place.

Regardless of who you or anyone else chooses to blame, It still comes down to money for repairs. If you don't have it you can't afford to maintain the car.
I am going to see the car tomorrow. I have a lot of free time on my hands so I think that I can fix it but i am not much of a engine or trans mission ( taking some classes now at the community college to learn) is there anything that I should look out for? maybe rust or something? because the car does not run and it might have been siting for a while

Always happy to be of service.

My father always said, "Anything you get for nothing is usually worth it !"A cheap corvette is just that.
Stay in School, buy yourself a C5 poster and keep it on your dorm wall. When you get depressed with all the school work, look at the poster. It helps really !
