Default drove through flood today please Help!!

today i was out, and was at the gym when i came out my car had water up to over the front license plate, but not over the hood. it was about 6 inches away from the engine bay. there was some dripping of water from underneath the steering column when i started the car. i drove the car home hitting some deep puddles on the way, but going very very slow over them. the car did not stall at any point, and the engine seemed to be completely dry when i finally checked when i arrived back at home. no water in the intake. i didnt check plugs or anything as of yet. i left it running for about a half hour and drove a few laps and seems perfectly fine, but im still a mess because when i came out and saw my car sitting in over a foot of water. i have a blackwing if that matters.i know the motors obviously not hydrolocked, but please help im freaking out still. anything that i should do or any advise is greatly appreciated. .

If the car ran for a half hour with no problems, I'd say you're OK in terms of the engine. I'd keep an eye on any electrical issues that may pop up due to the water and make sure that any water that got into the interior of the car is dried out.

If you left the motor running for 30 minutes than the engine is fine. The heat provided from the engine dried out everything. A hot running engine was a smart decision. The only thing I would recommend is to take WD40 and spray down the engine completely except the throttle body ( insert a rag while spraying or keep the the air cleaner system in intact.

Suggestion,,,,sometime in the foreseeable future I'd get up on a lift with a diagram of the ground points and make sure they are not corroding. There have been threads on this that you should be able to find with the search feature here to find the diagram. These cars are a little ground sensitive,,and getting soaked would be a good reason to check them over. Many threads have been posted on annoying problems that turned out to be ground related!! Other than that,,if you were driving and it was running good,,I'd say it SHOULD be good to go!!

Ok thanks again everyone. I sprayed the engine with wd40 today and changed the oil, the old oil wasn't milky at all. I also went on a little 300 mile roadtrip today with no problems. Tomorrow Im gonna run it to my mechanic for a quick check. I'll definetly look out for those ground points, good call on that. The only area of concern I still have is that I washed the car today and there's a slow drip underneath my steering wheel from inside the car. It's about where my ankles are where I drive. This is the same thing that happened yesterday during the flood incident. Any ideas what's the cause of that or how to fix it. Thanks in advance

With the fact that it drove fine home and you have no issues with the motor and you allowed it to run with no problems you should be fine.

I would check all you electrical connections at the point of water depth, even thought they are a water tight coupling it would be best to unclip and use some contact cleaner on the connections and then reclip together.

I would also check all the ground points as well and clean the contact there too. Here are all your grounding points, try to dry/clean all the ones that might of been submerged:

Thanks,Matt

Same thing happened to mine and I have Calloway Honker intake. No engine issues but the floorboards got wet and shorted my seat motors which set off tons of codes and wouldn't start. Had to have a relay and motors replaced. The relay is under pass seat. Check to see if carpet is wet there and if not your prob in good shape. Good luck.

The only thing that I would personnally do is change the oil in case some water may have mixed in...

This could explain the interior drip.

Could be somethins as simple as the trim panel under there just holding a puddle in it. I believe its concave (lip turns up) might want to just drop that panel and see whats in there, cant hurt.

And, go buy a Lotto ticket.

You must be living right to have this happen and zero problems
(from what you posted I rellay think you dodged the bullet and will be fine)

This is always a GOOD idea no matter how much water is around your engine.
