Found an ad on craigslist.org for a 2009 ZR1 for $40,000. Sounds like a scam to me. What do you make of this?
I sent her an email asking why she is selling it so cheap and this is the response i got:
Hi,
First of all I want to thank you for your interest in my car, the price is $40000. The car is in a perfect condition. Like you already have seen in the pictures, no scratches, no rust, no damages, no hidden defects. I sell it so cheap because i finished the divorce with my husband and i have moved to my parents home in NEW YORK, US and the car is still registered there. For the payment we will use ebay protection program for our safety and for payment i prefer to use a eBay Safety Bank Account.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer(if you are interested to buy) very soon
Thank you for your time,Roberta.

give them a fake name and address and see what they do. I mean im sure its a scam but try that out and see what happens.
If it seems too good to be true. It always is.

why don't you ask Ro fawking berta what the mileage is and then ask for her to provide a picture of the odo with her giving a thumbs up on the side of the picture. Ask her for some interior pictures. Also, ask for the VIN so you can run a carfax on it. Ask her which dealership she bought it from. Ask her what kind of oil and filter she uses? If she says the dealer does it, ask her how much is an oil change. What an idiot scammer she is. What kind of idiot falls for this?
I would love to hear the answers to the questions above!!
**side note, who the hell says New York, US as opposed to New York, NI fawking geria? (where they probably are scamming from)

thats typical scam language. They always try to put you at ease by saying some bs about the ebay protection thing. They also always do that, "i await your reply". theyre just trying to get people on the hook

Update:
Hi again,
I bought the car brand new and the title is clear. The car is at the shipping company in NEW YORK sealed and ready for shipping.I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. According with eBay you have 10 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:
First of all I will need the following details from you: full name, full shipping address. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment. eBay will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 10 days to test, verify and do whatever you want with the car. If you will buy it, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.
If you will decide that you will not buy the car, eBay will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my car. If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed. I look forward to hear from you.
Thank you

Ask her some mechanical questions about it. Tell her you want a picture of the odometer with some kind of special touch (thumbs up or something) as stated above. That my friend, sounds like a 100% scam. The english sounds iffy, I mean come on, New York, US?
Just play along and tell her you have a friend or relative living in New York and you want them to go inspect the car and see if Roberta replies
