I have a 2000 with 47000 miles on it, and everything works on it too. Does that mean there is something wrong with them?

If it does, I'm lovin it as my 2000 convert has no problems either. Only thing I've ever had to do was replace one rear end seal.

The only thing with mine is I drove it in the rain yesterday and it's dirty... I'll fix that in a couple of hours.

Mine too!

I still say that the '98's are purely thee BEST C5 ever made! Shot mine has almost 702 RWHP

Your Vette is beautiful - I love the Blue, it's the color I wanted to get - my first choice but I ended up with the last color I wanted - BLACK but hey it turns out I really love black too

Thanks,Matt

Yep, my 97's got 120K miles on the clock and very few issues...

Biggest thing I've had to do is rebuild the transmission, through no fault of my own of course!

The C5 is a very solid/reliable car, which is no surprise, after-all it is a <<C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E>>

My 99 has over 250k and everything still works!
Replaced the normal "C5 wear items" over the years but the drive train (with exception of a new clutch at 186k) is original!

They are just GREAT cars!!!

Thanks OP!

We really needed a thread like this so folks looking here for info get a more balanced sense of how good the C5 ownership experience usually is.

I bought mine with 72K 18 months ago. I now have 87K on it and the only problems I've had are very slight brake vibration and the gas gauge issue that goes away (for a while) when I add Techron. My C5 may well be the most dependable used car I ever bought
