Hey everyone, I'm thinking about painting my brake calipers and was wondering if anyone else has done it, and if so, could you post some pics of the outcome? I am thinking about either painting them red or yellow. Yellow just to be different then everyone else because it seems like the majority are red.
Nothing to it really. You can buy the kit at Advanced Auto or any other of the major retailers. The kit comes with cleaner, paint and a brush. Some people spray theirs, but I found the brush on is easier, because you do not need to mask off anything. I painted right over the Covette letters and then after it was just about dry I used a razor blade to remove the paint off the letters. I did three coats. Also don't drive the car until they are completely dry, or you will have brake dust in the fresh paint.
I'll look to see if I have any pictures and post them up for you.

Let's see some pics! Thanks in advance.
Painted mine black with Rustoleum Hi-Temp spray from Lowe's.
1. Removed wheel(s).
2. Washed everything in well that I could get to with soap and water.
3. Masked off from under the outboard pads.
4. Sprayed approx 3 coats - about 30 minutes apart.
5. Let set overnight
6. Razor bladed front "CORVETTE" bosses.

Powdercoating is the only way to go. Once they're done you will never have to touch them again and they will stay as clean and shiney as the first day you installed them. Brake dust will not stick to the paint and dull them over time, or chip. Photo is after 6 years of use.

Many, many owners have painted their calipers. Easy to do - just be sure you clean the calipers very well and mask off areas you don't want paint on. You can do them on the car if you like or you can take them off to paint.
As an alternative to you doing it, you can have someone like Corvette-Pilot powdercoat them for you - they turn out great.
I removed mine (in the winter) taped them off the hit them with some brake clean, then a wire wheel, (don't hit the cups with the wheel) painted with Dupli-Color Red, took a sanding block and 1500 paper and sanded off the letters. Super sexy!!
