Default * Painted brake calipers *

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about painting my brake calipers and was wondering if anyone else has done it, and if so, could you post some pics of the outcome? I am thinking about either painting them red or yellow. Yellow just to be different then everyone else because it seems like the majority are red.

Let's see some pics! Thanks in advance.

Nothing to it really. You can buy the kit at Advanced Auto or any other of the major retailers. The kit comes with cleaner, paint and a brush. Some people spray theirs, but I found the brush on is easier, because you do not need to mask off anything. I painted right over the Covette letters and then after it was just about dry I used a razor blade to remove the paint off the letters. I did three coats. Also don't drive the car until they are completely dry, or you will have brake dust in the fresh paint.
I'll look to see if I have any pictures and post them up for you.

Here is the front

Pay attention class.

You can find any technical topic that's ever been discussed/answered with search or search this forum (in the red banner) in C5 Tech.

The trick is in the keywords. Your question is easy.

Use keywords "painting brake calipers"...you should find four pages of reading material, most with images.

You can also have your calipers powder coated. There's a member here who does it.

It's easy to do ,pull them off, clean them good with brake cleaner then soap and water then prime and paint with a good high heat paint.

Make sure your calipers are clean and by all means go buy an addtion (better) brush than what come with the duplicor kit.

Painted mine black with Rustoleum Hi-Temp spray from Lowe's.

1. Removed wheel(s).
2. Washed everything in well that I could get to with soap and water.
3. Masked off from under the outboard pads.
4. Sprayed approx 3 coats - about 30 minutes apart.
5. Let set overnight
6. Razor bladed front "CORVETTE" bosses.

Been a year now...no problems at all.

Powdercoating is the only way to go. Once they're done you will never have to touch them again and they will stay as clean and shiney as the first day you installed them. Brake dust will not stick to the paint and dull them over time, or chip. Photo is after 6 years of use.

P.S. paint the brackets as well

Any idea what he gets for a set? I assume it's an exchange and he rebuilds the calipers?

Many, many owners have painted their calipers. Easy to do - just be sure you clean the calipers very well and mask off areas you don't want paint on. You can do them on the car if you like or you can take them off to paint.

As an alternative to you doing it, you can have someone like Corvette-Pilot powdercoat them for you - they turn out great.

He charged me $230 to do the work and ship. Then I of course sent mine back to him so he could send to someone else!

I removed mine (in the winter) taped them off the hit them with some brake clean, then a wire wheel, (don't hit the cups with the wheel) painted with Dupli-Color Red, took a sanding block and 1500 paper and sanded off the letters. Super sexy!!
