Hello all. I have a small leak coming from my coolant tank on my C5, so I bought a new one. I am thinking about putting it on myself and would like to know if that is a wise move, or should I let the professionals take care of it. I don't know if it has to be bled or pressurized or not. If anyone has some experience with this, please let me know.
It's an easy 10 minute project. Remove the two nuts on the top engine side of the tank. There are 3 hose connections that will need to be loosened and the hoses taken off of the old one and put onto the new one. If you can, clamp the hoses near the connection point so that they don't leak all over. There should be no need to bleed the system.

Just do it yourself. No need to get a dealer involved.
Thanks. I was contemplating about what to do and the $90 charge from the Chevrolet dealership made me think for a moment. I appreciate the advice. I will let you all know how it turns out this weekend.

Be certain that you get the correct model tank for your year C5. there were 2 different versions, and the only difference is in how the level float switch works inside the tank. If you get the wrong tank you will end up with a low coolant level message. Whomever you get the tank from should be able to get you the correct tank model. good luck
