Help, I have to PCS (move) in a few days and my plan is to tow my 99 hardtop vette on a autotransporter from either Uhaul or Penske. This will be a full trailer so the car is entirely off the ground. PROBLEM: The issue is the clearance for loading and unloading the vette from the trailer has been describe to me by the employees of both companies that its might not clear because the ramp is too steep. I need a solution for being able to get the vette on the trailer without scraping the bottom. My plan right now is to get two large 4X4 to increase the lenght of the ramp IOT decrease the ramp angle. Has anyone done this before?? Next question is how do i secure it to the trailer? What are the best hard points to attach to? Any pictures of your operation would be helpful. Thanks for your help in advance. I'm locking the vette on the trailer on the 22nd so any help before then is a bonus!
I loaded a very low car on a trailer a few months back and we used 2 2x12s 10' long with blocks put under them to stiffen them up. No picture but blocks were placed about every 30".
It may be possible to get eyebolts like are on a jacking puck and couple 2 of them together to hook ratchet straps at tiedown points. Once tension is on them they should hold fine. Those along with the over the tire straps would be what I would try.
Good luck with your move.
Thanks for the advice, I'm be heading to Lowe's to do some structural integrity testing of their wood materials. We'll see if i can test the employees knowledge with questions about if the board can support a 3100lbs vette. If anyone else has anything to add please pipe up, even if you haven't done something like this but have an idea please let me know. Mcguyver where are you!!!

We pulled our 2000 Torch Red Coupe from Boise to Colorado Springs on a UHaul trailer. I used 2 x 6's about 6 feet long to lessen to angle of the ramps. I needed to shore up the boards using some 2 x 4's under the "gap". they worked fine. We used the UHaul straps that came with the car hauler for securing the wheels. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the straps around/over the front tires. Everything rode well.
