Looking for info on headlight suggestions...
I have a '02 coupe that I am having trouble with the headlight gear and am fixing to have to replace it. I was wondering if there are any options as far as replacement headlight options that turn the headlights into a fixed headlight assembly and improve the lighting as well. I figure if I am fixing to drop some coin on repairing the gears I may as well look into putting that towards a better light setup. Thanks.

One of my favorite design characteristics of the C5 are the pop up lights. I really did not want to get rid of them in exchange for improved lighting performance as I feel they look absolutely stealth during the day, especially on the darker colored C5s.
After much research and waiting, I pulled the trigger on some ACAs and I'm very happy with the decision. I'm hoping to get many years of service out of these and while they also look fantastic, the light output is what really matters as they really light up the roads with the 4300 temp HIDs.
However, as a Vette owner, the mod bug is never fully scratched and I'm already watching the development of the new "Sun Guns" by some forum members.

I suggest performing the brass gear fix and checking out one of these pop-up, true HID options.
DEPO: These lights have by far the largest “frog eyes” of any of the fixed headlights and are almost as bad of a aerodynamic drag issues as pop ups….except they don’t retract. The Depo lights are also prone to micro-fracturing due to the poor quality plastic used in the main lens.
Price ~$350 + HID kit
Specter Werkes: Slightly more aerodynamic than the Depos, they still have the frog eyes. The mounting platform produces a notable vibration in the headlights. The lens mounting design uses exposed screws that some may find aesthetically questionable. Still the best IMO of currently available fixed lights. I had these on my car for over a year.
Price ~$1300 + HID kit
Breathless: While the lens and mounting system are a good design, the parabolic reflector low beam housing produces a relatively weak output and pattern…even with the Catz voltage booster.
Price ~$1300
