i remember seeing some pics a while back of a fake gated shifter looking plate (with out actual gates) for C5s. Has anyone made one with a custom shifter or anyhting to put actual gates in there?
seems to me that i remember the folks who were going to do the project (one of the supporting vendors at the time) had to price the item at a pretty expensive price and that kind of turned a lot of folks away as it was more of a cosmetic mod not really a functional one like one of the high priced european jobs have.
i would think you could probably find the thread using the search function.
that isn't really a gated shift plate. the one i believe the orig poster was referring to was a bit more gated in design, and was originally priced somewhere north of $200 by the vendor who was trying to get a feel for any interest (it might have been almost a year ago). as indicated in the post you reference even without the more "realistic" gates, that member stated he hit the gate points from time to time shifting. the gated shift plates usually used on the high end european models is truly "gated" and resembles the actual shift pattern cut out of the plate making shifting very straight line from 1 to 2 and 3 to 4, and requiring a very deliberate up/over/up from 2 to 3. not to be confused with anything that would allow a "speed shift", lol!!
