Headlight Gear Replacement Problem
So, I'm 2 days into the Blue Ridge Pkwy trip and I turn my Headlights on in one of the tunnels and only the left comes up. I had just replaced the Right stripped OEM nylon gear with the brass one and everything went well... I thought. The right( the one I just repaired) wouldn't come up so I turned the manual override **** on the motor about 2 rounds and tried the switch and everything worked great fro about 5-6 cycles up and down. Now when the bucket fails to raise I have to turn the **** and she works great. No noise, no slack just a perfectly working bucket.
What would be causing this. By the way, the motor doesn't strain or make any noise at all when it fails... it just needs the **** turned ( loosened) and it works 5-6 times.
Thanks,
Disconnect the actuator arm from the motor output shaft.
Rotate the motor by hand 180* using the over ride ****
Re connect the actuator arm to the motor output shaft.
This will make the motor use the teeth on the other half of the new gear you installed, and who knows it just might make a difference. It's simple enough to do.
