I've noticed that when the A/C is running there seems to be an unusually heavy drag on the engine. It is definitely from the A/C, because when I turn the A/c off the drag completely goes away. It seems to be much more prevalent on this car than anything that I've recently owned. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this?
I did some pretty serious power brake burnouts and donuts today with the AC on, yes i have always noticed a slight drop in response when the AC is on but not enough on a 400 horse Vette to make me not want to have it on.

I feel the same way. Did the big family loop this week. Started here in eastern NC on Monday, went to Blacksburg Va via I-40 & I-81, then up I 81 to Northern Va, then back home today via I-95. I'm usually a diehard top down guy, but had the top up with A/C on today. Digital thermometer in the car was at or over 100* for a good part of the trip. I actually saw 105* driving through Richmond.

It is detectable,,but nothing serious in mine!! You want to see/experience A/C drag,,drive my wife's 4 banger Saturn Vue(the little SUV) with A4 trans!! THAT'S A/C drag!!! My FRC has next to none!!The last several weeks here in the St.Louis area,,,we have NEEDED A/C Temps running 90 to 100 with humidity so thick you can cut it with a knife!!! Heat indexes have been running around 110,,do anything outside,,and you are drenched!! Thank GOD for A/C!! I like windows down,,no A/c,,,but there ARE limits!!

I can notice the difference in the car's performance when the A/C is on compared to it being off, but probably no more than on any other car I've had. With the heat we have been having, it's a sacrafice that I'll take to have the A/C.
Yesterday going down the shore outside temp in Toms River read 105. I never feel a drag on the AC with this vette which is 6 speed and pretty much stock. I feel the difference in my 2000 Blazer much more.

Wow that makes sense to me now, i was at the track burning off my GY runflats, and i noticed it getting warmer in the car, man my 17 yr old was grinning from ear to ear, he loved doing the donuts.
