Default Question - Active Handling Repairs

Just Curious...my active handling just registered a "get serviced soon" reading and was wondering what I'm looking at for repair costs. Ball park of course since the car's warranty is up. Thanks!

I just paid $525.00 for the steering wheel position sensor, it was one of the codes from the Service Active Handling Soon, good luck!.

Thanks...that's better than I thought it would be! I didn't even think about there being more than one thing possible applying to that message...maybe it'll be less.

It comes up a lot here and yes it could be for a great number of reasons, some easey to fix and inexpensive and others that can be more involved.

One of the first things you should do is read the trouble codes set in the system....follow instructions in this link

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...post1563436976

Clear whatever is there, use the car and check what codes are current.

Look up the source for whatever codes you are showing here

http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...d-ii-codes.php

Then you will have a much better idea of what is wrong and what it might cost to fix.

Many times these codes are set not necessarily due to a bad or malfunctioning part but due to either low voltage (like a bad battery) or a bad ground to one of the components in the AH/TCS system.

Sorry, away on vacation atm so I dont have my saved links, but you should find a good post by bill about how to correct voltage/bad ground issues.

Thats where Id start.

Good luck

Where did you have the work done?

I had the code set once for the steering wheel position sensor but just unplugged and replugged the 4 pin connector on the sensor about 4 times and it never came back again.

I had checked with Watson Chev in Tucson when I got the code and they quoted me a total cost for both parts and labor of just under $350 if it needed to be replaced.
