ticking sound

hey everyone. I normally work on my 2002 c5 myself. well this week on my way home on the hwy. i heard the ticking like sound comming from the engine area. it sounds like an air leak but when i got it up and looked for it, there was nothing so i went around the block and noticed it only makes the sound under a load. so when i coast or rev no sound. does anyone know what this could be.

I have a ticking sound too, same as you describe. I've noticed when I have the Air Conditioner off it stops. Have you tried turning off the AC. I think I may have problems with my AC compressor clutch. Hopefully this may help? and someone may have a remedy for?

Use the highest octane gas.

You haven't pizzed off the wife lately have you? Tick, tick, tick, BOOM!

Check your plug wires, and see if one is arcing against the manifold/header. If you're good there, get a mechanics stethascope and listen to the block and heads.

That's funny, I just got one of those today! I'm pretty sure it's an exhaust leak. It's a ticking, almost fluttering noise? Gets a LITTLE quieter when the car gets hot?
