Multi-Function Switch-did i get screwed?
I read on this website that it only takes 20 minutes to replace a multi-function switch in my 2000 Corvette. My local chevy dealer just charged me $894. $506 was for labor. Is that a reasonable labor charge or did I get taken????

Granted it isn't as easy as falling off a log, but I just replaced mine. There are instructions around here somewhere. I think the switch was about $150.00 including shipping.

I did it and it was $90 for the used switch and I found a DIY and changed it myself. Took maybe 1.5 - 2 hours and I never did it before.
Isn't there a standard labor time for each job to do at the dealership? Wonder what they have for that.
Looking at the job there is that one screw that is a pain because the steering wheel is in the way. If they took the time to remove the wheel first which is quite possible it would have taken more labor time.
What is a dealer hourly labor rate recently anyway?

I bought a new one for about $115 two years ago...Only thing else I bought was a small ignition wrench to use the box end to hold a small torx bit....I used a DIY with pictures from the forum...it's no more difficult or time consuming than doing a CLB....probably took me an hour total and I'm no rocket scientist....but based on what you paid....I saved a ton of money....just a little advice...use the forum...I've done some fix's that I probably never would have attempted but the forum got me through it....

There is no way that repair should have cost that much in labor. I agree with going back to the service manager and complaining.
