Is there any difference in the C5 Tunnel plate from the C6 plate? I have the old one off my 05 C6 from when I bought the Elite engineering 3/8” thick one and installed it. Would it be worth my trouble to get under the C5 and install it on her?
Why not just order an Insulated Elite Engineering plate? Better quality.
Because they're stupid expensive. I made my own out of a piece of 1/4" T6 aluminum and got some thermal shielding from Summit racing. I have about $75 into it, and 2 or 3 hours of my time. I'd stack it up against an EE plate any day.
Don't forget that the EE tunnel plate is also ceramic coated to help reflect heat. Stupid expensive? AT $205 and you get ceramic coating it is a great deal. For $289 you can get the 1/4" with thermal insulation.

plus if I was capable and had the time fabricate it in three hours then it would still cost more than buying one. If someone has the time and talent, and enjoys making their own - more power to them. Sounds like it could be a good side business? What would you sell them for?

I would like the part number so I can compare pricing.
You can get a 1/4" ceramic coated plate on the bay and add your own insulation from Summit Racing.
Just curious as to how much a stock C6 plate costs.........for that I need a part number
