I think it depends on the buyer mainly because some only want an auto and some only want a manual. For me personaly I like the manual because it feels more like a sports car and you can just feel the power in every gear unlike in the auto it feels very tame, I have a manual and my dad has an auto, he feels the same way but it doesnt really bother him.
I would think that the maunual would have a higher resale vaule because it was(if im not mistaken) a $900 option but as I said before some people will not buy it because its a manual and vise versa.

Honestly the manual tranny car will most likely bring a higher resale value. But it depends on the buyer - I've had two 6-speed cars and for my latest, I went with an auto.

Its a wash, If you like a stick buy a stick if you like auto then buy an auto. The resale will be the same in a couple more years. The stick is much more fun to drive if your good at it. My auto makes M6 trans look slow on the track because most can't drive a stick.

Row some gears! Higher rear differential ratio with a stick for more bottom end acceleration, and waaay more fun IMHO.

With a manual you need to shift with your hand while working the clutch with your left leg. With the automatic you don't.

I like tater tots.

If you like road racing or just rowing through the gears, go with 6 speed. For 1/4 mile A4 is the ticket.

Just my input, depends on if your a daily driver or weekend, and what city you live in. I have an auto because being a daily driver in the city of Houston with TRAFFIC, auto made more sense. My friend and I have almost identical cars, with same cam and mechanic. His is manual and gets only 5more hp on dyno than mine. So I'll stick with auto, and save my knees from shifting so much in traffic.

No worries, you are young--enjoy your vette and your next one can be a manual......

I'm in my late 30s and I will drive manual for the next 10 yrs--c5 and c6 z06, before getting an auto grandsport possibly with FI- (unless of course GM starts offering an auto Z06--don't laugh, it could happen)

Resale value is in the tank, doesn't really matter if it's a stick or auto.

Cars are not an investment, they are an expense.

Buy whatever you want. I prefer an automatic. Unless you're going to road race or live in the middle of nowhere, then an auto is the way to go.

C5's seem to have all kinds of clutch woes.

I had an auto, now have a 6 speed. World of difference. Way more fun to drive going through the gears. A real sports car. Plus, my wife can't drive a manual.
