I decided against the decal based on a couple I've seen at car shows, they didn't do justice for the engine bay or car for that matter. So, I went with a company in Georgia that has a special process that really highlights the engine bay. They're the only ones in the country that does it and the airbrusher has accolades for what he does both with cars and cycles. Topnotch...

I don't remember where I bought mine(think corvette mods) and they said to use a specific spray on glue and follow instructions to the letter. I have put on 2000 miles and still good. I cleaned the liner(take it off the hood) and painted it with black interior dye.

Some posts I'm glad to see get revived after 3 years. This is one of them and looks like I'll plan to do my liner tomorrow pending finding the right colors in store.

I painted mine and used craft paint n small bottle with a brush, the rattle can didn't work for me. Looks ok but the symbol like item on the right side of the emblem is difficult to get right. Good luck

That "Symbol like Item" is called a "Fleur-de-lis" French for flower of the lily.
Louis Chevrolet was French

P.S. I bought that same Mid America stick on decal hood emblem thingy. One of the poorer decisions I've made. Mine just kept curly off despite repeated attempts to use heat gun and adhesives to recover. Just too much heat in the engine bay for that thing to last for a long time. Also, kinda expensive for what it is. The embroidered liners look so much better than any solution. It arrived four days after ordering. The guys at CAR Motorsports really have their act together.
I thought I'd update this and include a photo. Embroidered liner took 30 minutes to easily install. Four years old now and still looks like new. Strongly recommend without reservation.

I did mine with the decal. I was considering getting a new liner until I saw the truck shipping charges. I had concerns about the finished product until I started to fine-tune it using the hair dryer - that makes it much more pliable and really improved the fit. It was tricky and no way can you do the decal while the liner is on the hood. The directions advise getting the help of another person but I managed it myself. Used a little rubbing alcohol to remove the residue from the permatex spray adhesive. Invariably some of this will get on your fingers and make it onto the top of the decal.

I got mine here:

Installed it over the winter and has held up well in summer heat so far, and looks great.

Default Mine from "VetteKids" in Arkansas, "A GM-Approved Vendor"...

...stayed on ONE (count 'em) ONE day. Had a brand-NEW hood insulation pad, followed instructions- curled up the next night after a 15-minute drive. Wadded it up and threw it away.

It was $ 39.95 which (I guess ) is cheap. And, they no longer seem to be in business.

I learned- "cheap isn't".
