looking at a 2004 blk conv. to purchase, 16 k miles, need a little help, I'm not sure if the car sat out often or not, paint is original, no scratches on the car, top looks okay, but.. how to be sure if top is good ?.. the stock calipers look kinda grey with the "corvette" writing not real distinct as others....underside looks good and undisturbed. good car fax, (radio warranty). tks.
I see one question in your post "how to tell if top is good?", not sure what you are asking? Other than if it looks good to you for a 2004, and it doesnt leak, and the rear window hasnt detached, what else might you be looking for?

The stock calipers will turn a grayish color over time - that's usual. Many owners end up painting them to make them look better. Lots of options on colors and products to use.
thanks, just questioned if these saw salted rds...
In New York,,probably has seen some!! No biggie,,if it looks good underneath,,just look at the frame for any serious corrosion!! The rest doesn't rust!! Stock finish on the calipers does dull with age and most any kind of weather exposure,,again no biggie!!Unless you are one that only washes, waxes, details and never drives it types,,get a good deal and clean her up and get out and drive it and have some fun!!!
