Ive seen a few M6s lately rolling around my area, just wondering if anyone has ever raced one and how they did, on a closed course mind you...I know in their "race" or "sport" mode they are 500hp and they weigh in stock curb weight around 3770lbs. I figure a stock C5z with 420hp or so wouldnt do taht bad against one...am i wrong?

C5z with LT, X pipe, cam, tune--vs m6--yeah. Stock c6z--good.
If you're stock, you better at least have some new sticky tires, 1/4 tank of gas, and do some bad azz driving and you should do well.

you would really need the cam and the tune to take them down? I mean i know stock vs stock its some 80hp difference, but i figured a set of LTs + tune would be enough to cover the gap and the weight difference some 700lbs..
Why compare oranges to apples? What if the M6 has mods? Then what?
Car and Driver magazine Road Test
2002 Z06 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds 1/4 mile 12.4@116
2006 M6 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds 1/4 mile 12.4@121
The heavy M6 has 7 gears, which really helps keep it in the sweet spot power range. Stock for stock its a drivers race and after 1/4 mile the M6 walks away
expect to get pulled very hard on the top end without a cam and/or heads.
well i dont expect to actually race one, most are older guys i just like to know the competition thats in the area and had wondered if anyone on here ever ran one heads up.
That's The stingers are a little loud especially with headers.
A blower is the cheapest and best way to attain power with out adversely effecting the everyday drive ability of your car.
definitely, i had a blower on my 99 GT and i must say it had a good amount extra 100rwhp to be exact than it did with just bolt ons and the driveability was not effected at all.
my dr. has one and tracks it occasionally. he also has a '65 'vette, so is probably objective. he says weight makes the ls6 the winner, tho beemer is upping power soon and will be faster.
I actually ran against one this weekend from a slow roll, about 30mph in 2nd gear. I pulled about half a car until the top of 3rd before I shutdown. They are no slouches.

I'm stock with the exception of a Vararam.
Sounds like experiences ive had. go into fourth and they start passing you

does the LS6 really fall on its face in 4th gear? Coming from a mustang GT these things feel like they pull forever...Or is it just the gearing the M6 can have because of 7 gears...
Not really how many gears but more the over head cams and 4 valves per cylinder relying on high rpm's and that their peak twist action is made for 7750 rpms. So once you get the boat moving it is more about high end horsepower rather than low end torque...My brother is a BMW mechanic and has taken me for a ride in the M5, 335ci, new M3, old M5, it is a different type of horsepower, it more pulls you like a turbo towards the high R's but doesn't kick you in the pants when you stuff it in low R's.
But like anything...you can have a 100% race horse but if the jockey is no good, then you might as well stay in the stable.
