Default Is the C5 Corvette done?

The base Mustang GT now makes more than 400+ HP (and the Shelby makes 550 HP).

Is it time to move on, and regard the C5 the same as a C4? Not old enough to be collectable, and not new enough to be able to keep up with the competition?

I can't believe a base V6 mustang makes more than 300+ HP. A V6 is a womans car. And now Mustang has a V6 that is in the same HP class as the Corvette.

350 HP is not that much anymore. Not when a Mustang can make it.

Is it time to forget about the C5 and move to a C6?

There are mid-size Japanese V6 performance sedans that now have similar HP numbers since the C5 was introduced 14 years ago.

We still have a weight and suspension performance advantage plus any other tuning or other tweaking available.

I don't expect my C5 vert to win every performance test, however it still looks better than 95% of the other non-Vettes on the road.

The Z makes 405 hp, is very light and is geared to accelerate.

The base vette is 350hp, and it is more accurately compared to a mustang gt at 260-300hp range. Comparing it to today's mustang is not accurate, but yes the weight thing is the hang up on the GT, the clumsy handling and brake dive too.

Have always liked Mustangs, especially Shelby, but it ain't no Corvette.. If you're paranoid about 350 HP, put a blower on it....

Don't forget the solid rear axel on a Mustang!! Crap on a road course. At least the new Camero has independent rear suspension.

I just don't see why you're so concerned about other cars. Why not just enjoy what you have?

You can't go around challenging everyone to a richard measuring contest.

The kinda bad thing about the 2011 Mustang GT500 is the rear end is kind of ugly and that happens to be the part MOST C5 owners will have to look at. Sorry to say, but that car will have your stock C5's for lunch! You better get to work and pump those C5's up if you want to stay in the game.....

Go out and mod that LS1 or LS6 and then come back and see if a Mustang will worry you. The LS series engine platform is the wet dream of any modaholic. 350HP is just the starting point. The only thing I've ever heard coming out of a shelby is a bunch of whiiiiiiine
