[Z06] ZO6 makes the Hit List!!
I just saw a news report today about the top 5 most stolen cars over the last three years and the 2006-09 ZO6 is the most desirable performance car even more than the Infinity G37 which also makesthe list. Of course its the second most hottest car on the planet, besides the ZR1. Im assuming its the LS7 engine that these clowns are after. Other than a flatbed truck, are these cars that easy to steal, especially given the fairly high theft numbers? Im also assuming this gives the insurance companies reason to raise rates. You know what they say, keep your friends close , but keep your ZO6 closer.

I wonder if turning their front wheels far off center before the column locks would be cheap insurance? Maybe a prospective booster would look for an easier car to get on the flatbed.

its a conspiracy
An acquaintance of mine had his Z06 stolen right out of his driveway while he ate dinner. It was facing his garage; they jacked up the front and put wheel dollies under the tires. Then jacked up the rear by the transmission brace and rolled the car out of the driveway where the flat bed truck was waiting. Hoisted it onto the truck and drove away. The reason for the accurate description of what happened was that his neighbor stood there and was bull****ting with them while they took it. They told his neighbor that he had missed a few payments and they were reposing it.

They really worked the numbers to come up with that report....
Seriously, if you look at the frequency of claims, you can see how low a target the C6 Z06 is, compared to the rest of the list. 1.7 claims out of every 1000 insured cars all the other cars have 3-5 times more claims.
Z06 gets stolen it's parted out or wrecked/totaled by the idiots trying to drive it. That's the only way to explain the crazy $$$ difference between the claim amount of the Z06 and EVERY car on their list being 1/3 the claim amount?
Hummer's, Escalades, etc. are having wheels stolen, grills, etc.. Thief wrecks it, it can probably be repaired.
They should come up with a new report...
"Cars most likely to kill the thief stealing it."

I can see it now. Their claim would be the cars are unreasonable and have to much power.
I think that lots of people that bought C6 Z06s couldn't afford the payments when the economy crashed and their cars "magically" disappeared. LOL
In truth, the RFID keyfob system isn't very secure. There are people that can break into that system in 15 min. There was a German cracking team that broke into a few Mercedes and Infinitis to prove the point. All you need is one of those little netbooks and an RFID transceiver.
