My headlamp makes some loud noise for about 5 seconds after closing , i was wondering what is that? Could it be the headlamp motor needs replacement? Thanks 03 vette z06

The motor gear is stripping out. you may want to look into the Brass gear replacement for the cheep plastic Factory ones.

Pretty soon, it won't come up when you want it too, and you'll get to open the hood and turn the **** every time you drive at night. I did the gear replacement, but the motors themselves came loose in their housings and made operation erratic. So, to avoid motor replacements and save the OEM lights and relays, I now have fixed projector headlamps.

Mine was doing the same thing, and I replaced the plastic gear with a brass one a couple of weeks ago...works perfect now!

I recently did this fix on my 03 Z. There are several places where you can buy the repair kits that have the brass or metal gears and the lube and glue needed to put the case back together again after you've pried it appart. The fun part is getting the whole light assembly out of the car and back in again. But the kits work as advertized.

I did a quick fix on mine, Remove the linkage that lifts the light from the motor [its on the inside under the light ] & manually turn the **** 180 deg. & put it back on. & you will be using the other half of the gear. I bought the brass gears But haven`t had to use them yet. Been about a year now. It can be done from above, but I did it from below, took about 1/2 hour.

This is what I did also. I did also tighten down on the tabs that hold the motor onto the gearbox. It should be tight. Did not like the design on the motor/gearbox tabs, instead of bolted.

I am going to look at it today. What are the full details of removing the headlamp handle? Do i have to unscrew it when the headlamps are up and which hinge is it? Thanks
