I have firestone wide ovals runflats I was on a trip last week i had a 9/16th wrench go in the top and out the sidewall I drove it 200 miles home at 50mph some people don't like runflats but this time they were worth having no tire shop I stop at could help me a new tire or fix the one with the wrench in it.
those are exactly what I went with after replacing the OEM Goodyears on my '02
couldn't be happier. SOOOOOO much quiter and smoother than the OEM's. Just goes to show a person - you don't have to ditch runflats altogether to get a noticeable improvement.
Every time I drive/ride-in Yvonnes 2003 w/9k miles...I am reminded how crappy the OEM Goodyears are.
Nice tire as I wouldn't mind the peace of mind from a RF but w/o the usual road noise. I'd go with them on my Z rims but they only come in C6 sizes of 245/30x18 and 285/35x19.
Too bad.
..... I just did a bit more research. The Firestone 'Wide Oval' RF are in fact only for the C6's but they do make a "SZ50 EP" RF, for the C5's but in the wrong sizes for my Z06 rims. Too narrow.
Michelin PS2 ZP is equally a great tire (OEM for ZR1). Being old school when I hear the term Wide Oval I remember the tires from the seventies that had the Wide Oval logo in white on the sidewalls of the tire. Everyone wanted Wide Ovals.
Firestone took a beating from the tires separating a few years ago on the SUVs. Several lines where changed over to Bridgestone, the parent company.

Just did a look up on TireRack.com regarding these Michies and again, too narrow for the Z06 rims on the rear.
Question is, anyone make a good RF that will work on the wider Z06 18inch rear rim? A 295 or even 305?
