I'm flying out to Oregon to pick up a 2000 FRC on Monday. The car is like new with only 2000 miles on it. It comes with a new GM Bra still in the box which I will install when I get there. It appears that the best way to install the snaps in the fender wells is to replace the ones supplied with Marine Stainless Snaps #8 X 5/8". Can anyone verify the length and thread type on the factory screw (the one in the fenderwell)? Is it a #8 machine screw or is it a metric M8 screw. Any help would be appreciated, since I'll be doing the job in the airport parking lot. Normally, I wouldn't worry about installing a bra, but the car is so beautiful and the trip back home is over a thousand miles. Thanks in advance, Robert

Actually, the snap screws that come with the bra are just fine. I installed one on mine last December and use it all the time - not one problem with the snap screws coming loose and all you have to do is take out the stock screws and install the supplied ones.
TIP: While you are installing the snaps lay the bra fully open in the sun so it warms up REAL GOOD. Its a bear to put on the first time. It requires a lot of stretching.
Also, I'd consider taking a couple of blocks of wood (or drive it up onto a curb) so you can drive the front tires up on because the car is so low in front it will otherwise be pretty hard installing the snaps that go underneath.
Of course you could install the fenderwell snaps, then the bra then drive somewhere (like park the front wheels on a speed bump) where you can more easily crawl under the front and install the bottom snaps.
Good luck and have a fun ride home!

PS. I second what the previous poster said, the supplied snaps are all you need, and a screw driver.
I agree with rickko, your biggest problem will be stretching it out as this is a first time install. Put it in the sun immediately and do a tug of war on it a few times as it warms up. If it's a nice sunny day you'll be fine.
Enjoy the ride.
The marine snaps are easier to install since they just screw right in place of the wheel well liner screws. I dont remember the length or thread type but here is a picture. Purchase a GM wheel well liner screw from a local dealership and bring it with you when you buy the marine snaps so that you can match the threads and length.
Your 2000 FRC sounds like a great find.
What color?

Hi guys--I am buying a car up in Pittsburgh and driving it to New Orleans where I am working and I have been looking for a GM bra but have heard they are no longer available. Any ideas? TIA, Mark
Great advice from everyone on the bra install. The only other thing I would recommend (and is what I did when I drove my '99 FRC home from IN to AZ), before you actually install the bra, apply a coat of wax to the nose area that will be covered by the bra, it will go on easier and add some protection to the paint during the road trip.
