Need to replace the hoodliner on my 2000. Looking at an embroidered one from Car MotorSports. Looks great, but around $400. ANy experience/suggestions?
Get one at the dealership for $125.00 and do your own.
I thought about that. But I would then have to paint it and these are embroidered. I have seen a couple taht were painted and they were just not the same. Appreciate the recommendation!
I know there used to be someone on the forum (Paula??) that embroidered these, but I could not find any info.
My hood liner is shot as well and I'll probably get it from the dealer but I will check out Carlisle later this month. It'd be nice to pick one up while I'm there but I have no idea if there will be vendors there selling them. I'd like to see what they look like in person before dropping $400 on it. Car motorsports sure do look nice though

Reason: spelling
I've seen a couple of the embroidered hood liners at car shows and they are very nice and excellent quality. The question is whether you want to spend the $$$ that you see only when the hood is open. However, if you've already spent $$$ modding the engine with covers, chrome, CF, etc., why not finish it?
If you go with a custom embroidered liner, you can always remove it/display it if you sell your car. If not, you can take a stock hoodliner and have it airbrushed, etc. for something custom, however you will probably spend similar money.
If your stock hoodliner is in good shape, painting it yourself is probably the least cost alternative.

Thanx! I have to replace the hoodliner. Had the car over 5 years. Original owner must have had a belt rip apart as there is a big scar on the bottom driver side of the liner. Have done mostly cleanup on engine, but am going to start putting some carbon fiber trim components in. Kids wanted to know wht do for my birthday and they know I wnated this, so I was looking for some input. Appreciate it!

The embroidered hood liner is expensive, however I think you will really like it for it's quality. Plus, you can choose the color of the C5 logo, etc. They also have some cool matching 1-piece or 3-piece trunk lids for your vert.
$400.00 OUCH! I only can say that if you are near done doing mods then heck why not - but if you are not then save the money and get a stocker and paint the emblen yourself

Yea, I have the trunk liner and plan on matching the logo on the hood liner to that. I really like it. I also already have the year ID plate under the hood (was the 1st thing I bought for it).
I think you should you would very satisfied with doing it yourself. checkout some how to posts and see what others have done. Personally i can't see spending those bucks for that mod. It was the first mod I every did and I still admire it each time I open the hood.
I bought the kit that covers the orginal hood liner & I am very pleased with it! I've had it serveral yrs now & it still looks like new. Saves a lot of $$$ & is easy to do...Good luck!
New hood liner arrived yesterday and installed! WOW! : Thanks to CarMotorsports (& my lovely wife for helping out with the purchase for my birthday!) thumbs:

As you can see, the old liner was shot - a cover or custom painting would not have worked as well.

My wife did the same for me. I got mine in Red embroidered stitching. Very nice quality piece. I know it was expensive but my car is a show car and I enjoy showing it and people admiring the nice pieces I have on it. BTW CarMotorSports delivered it very quickly.

So basically, this vendor offers a new hoodliner covered or the cover which you install over your existing hoodlineer which is less expensive? If so, how hard is the install? Do you simply wrap your existing liner? How does the new material connect or secure onto the existing hoodliner?

I bought it from AJ @ CarMotorsports. SUPER folks. Delivered in 10 days. Keep in mind each order is custom. They have the wrap, but, as you can see from the pics, I had to replace the entire liner. A bit expensive, but really worth it, IMHO.
