Default AC not working properly. Help.

Just today my AC would not stay turned on. I would press the AC button and the light would dimly come on but within seconds shut off. The LED read out was dimly lit too. I would press it on but again it would shut off within seconds. We have been having rather HOT weather here in South Texas (100+F) and I would expect the AC to have trouble cooling down the car initially but this is more than that. The AC simply shuts off. The fan keeps blowing hot air and I can hear the compressor engage and disengage throughout the process. I must state that later in the evening, as it cooled down to 90F the AC worked fine. It never once shut off. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Mine exhibited some strange behavior like that during some hot weather a few years ago. Turned out to be the outside air temperature sensor. About a $15 part, IIRC, and an easy replacement.

Thanks for your input. It's in the shop now. Has been for the past 4 days... waiting on parts. The control module will be replaced first and then checked once again after its installation. I am also having the driver's side window repaired. It started acting up in the 100+ F degree temperature we've been having in South Texas. I'll ask about the outside temperature sensor. Thanks again.

Did you check for codes?

This should always be your first step
