So about a few weeks ago I noticed my A/C temp display went dim. I can no longer view it in the day time without putting my hand over it and I can still barely see it. At night its fine though. Also I want to say around the same time my HUD went dim too. At full settings during the day I can see it but its not as bright as it used to be. Two days ago I noticed now when I turn on my headlights my interior lights do not come on. I have to shut the lights off then return them on and the lights will come on. Yesterday though I had to do the cycle three times for the interior lights to come on.
Some food for thought: About 8 months ago maybe I installed 35w HIDS in my car. I was having the problem with my headlights not going down when I shut them off, but I read I could hit the high beams to lower them because it uses the extra power that is keeping the headlights up. Every time I shut my lights off I hit the high beams to drop the lights so there shouldnt be any power running to them. Also I barely drive at night, so I dont even use my HIDS much. I started thinking maybe my HIDS are burning something out, but I really dont use them often. Anyone ever heard of somethign like this before. I just want to fix it before I lose all power.
Search for Ignition Switch repair and start by cleaning the contacts. It's an easy repair and even if it turns out to be something else your car probably needs it. It fixed about four electrical problems for me.
