Has anyone ever asked you how you got that dent in the middle of the Targa top?
3 people have asked me how I did that.
I tell them it's Composite/Fiberglass,and it doesn't dent, but they seem to think it should be perfectly flat on top.
I was putting a coat of Rejex on the Vette today, and was looking at the "dent",and it seems to me,subtle as it is,it really adds "something" to the overall looks of the C5-props to the GM designers-try and picture your C5 without the "dent"-just wouldn't be the same...
Kind of a pointless post, just an observation, but actually a strong contributing factor to the overall look of the C5, IMO
I've been asked this question a few times, and I've only owned the car since January. I can never come up with anything witty to say, so I just say that it's in the design of the car.
A paintless dent removal guy and his crew were working on my neighbor's car and he asked me if I wanted him to remove the dent from the top of my car. I just stared at him in disbelief as he was running his hand across my black paint.
I told my neighbor that he should use a different PDR guy. He should have listened to me, cause the guy was terrible at pulling dings.

Once. I just pointed out it matched the dent in the hood. I'm sure it's for aerodynamics. Too subtle for styling. Maybe they just did it so people would ask stoopid questions.
When the final design specs were approved back in '96 or '97,they probably said "WTF does it matter? No ones ever gonna look at these cars anyway,ESPECIALLY the top"
Over the years that I've owned a couple of C5's I have been asked about the dent in the roof. But it's always funny because people will say "hey, did you know there's a dent in your roof?" I'll answer no, where? When they look sorry for mentioning it, I'll explain. It is actually an aerodynamic design factor. Vipers have the "dent" too.
