I'd rather have it down low on the knee panel...do you gain sensitivity EVEN SLIGHTLY by putting it higher up on the mirror?
It looks good up top but just personal preference I'd rather have it out of site
You know I used to like to have it hidden but it doesn't seem to bother me anymore. It's never lit up because it has the axillary box below that lights up!
Thanks man, do you know if the sensitivity is any better in either location? This would really be my primary concern and imo a V1 is the only way to go.

I think it is more sensitive being way up top! It is especially sensitive when in the "A" mode! Time for a couple of cold ones!!!

A radar detector will generally work noticeably better the higher you mount it. I have been using radar detectors for about 38 years and have installed and repaired commercial radar for many years.

i'm in the process of making a visor mount now. it won't affect the visor or get in the way of the mirror. and it should hang high enough that it will be difficult to see from outside. i have the parts in need, i just have to figure out the best way to attach them to each other. when i bought the parts i wanted to use, they only came in 4 and 6 packs, so if you're interested, let me know and i'm sure we could make a deal!
I just use the suction cups and mount mine up above the mirror on the right side between the antenna wire and windshield molding.
Works great and it's hidden from view so no one is tempted to break in my car.
Its not illegal to have a radar detector so why try to hide it? cops see thousands of them every day...they think nothing of it...what i would like to find out is how to hook it up to the power in the mirror? the angle leave's me without eyes to see what to do...

in virgina it's illegal, and even though i don't live there, i drive through a few times a year. and it's one less thing to risk getting stolen. but the number one reason for me, is cleaning up the clutter. i hate having it sticking to the windshield with a wire hanging down in front of the dash.

Mine is actually powered in the passengers foot well. I ran the power in the headliner down the "A" pillar into the foot well and powered it that way.
Easy!!
I did this about 5 years ago. THere's power in the mirror that you can tap into. BTW, if you mount your detector too high, so it's behind the tint area of your windshield, you lose quite a bit of sensetivity, and of course, range.
Will this mount work on a c5 z06 2002? I heard that it does, but on your website says incompatible.
I checked with them and for some whacky reason, GM changed the OEM mirror mount for the C5 between 2002 and 2004. I have a 2004 and would love to have one of these mounts and then hardwire the detector into the mirror as it has the autodimming feature. IMO, that's the neatest/cleanest install option.
The first pics are obvsiouly of an aftermarket mirror, so perhaps that's an option. I was thinking about killing two birds with one stone and purchasing a Homelink mirror, however I'm not sure if the actual window mount changes and if so, if the new window mount would work with these fixed radar detector mounts.
