Default Wheels and tires

Basically my goal is to find lighter and wider wheels than the stock ones to improve performance and looks at the same time. I decided to go with C5 Z06 rims for my 01 Vert, so I have been looking for wheel and tire package for the past couple days. I've found several deals so far but all of them are replica C5 z06 wheels. My main problem is that I'm afraid they might not be as light. Is there really any weight difference between replica and original wheels?
Does any body know where I can get a real C5Z06 wheel and tire package?
I would also go for any other kind other then C5Z06 but it seems like there is nothing that is actually weighs less, except expensive mag and carbon fiber wheels.
Thanks

How about a set of genuine polished OEM C5 Z06 wheels that are brand new and still in the original GM boxes?

As far as tires - we are a Tire Rack dealer, and I can help you with those as well.

Yes HUGE difference in weight.
If you are truly in tune your car then you WILL feel a difference. Don't listen to the folks that say they can't feel a difference. They are not really in tune with the performance of there car. I only Sunday drive my car and I felt a HUGE difference with a pair of China made OEM replicas. It felt like I was dragging a Brick behind my car, the car did not feel as nimble, and the turning was sluggish. I weighed them on my bathroom scale and they were 10-11 lbs heavier EACH ! I put my stock Z06 wheels back on and it felt like I gained Horsepower ! Car was much more nimble, and turn in was much better. I sold the junky heavy weight wheels the following week.

Search the For Sale Section for OEM Z06 rims. You can then go to a wheel shop to get them custom painted, polished, or powercoated any color you want. I was quoted only $75/wheel to powder coat Z06 rims locally.

You are going to be hard pressed to find a wheel actually "lighter" than the 02-04 Z06 OEM wheels. GM did a fantastic job on these wheels strength, and light weight.
02-04 Z06 cast/spun - 19.2 lbs, front; 21 lbs, rear

Your going down the right path, and doing your homework on wheel weights. Don't be burned like I was with the cheap China crap. I hope you can learn from my mistake.

If your not a road racer, or drag racer, and don't frequent the track very often then I would say don't worry about it. Get a rim that looks good and that your going to be happy with. The couple of extra lbs will not make a difference in street driving. Even at a road course, unless your experienced I really would not worry.

Sets of the OEM C5 Z06 wheels come up for sale often in the C5 Parts for Sale section of the forum. Prices vary as does condition, but you might find a mint set for a good price there.
