If your car qualifies, the best warranty is GMPP. There are a couple of members here who sell the policies for that plan (search with "gmpp" as keywords in C5 general). There are different levels of the plan available...
Another company which I have personally dealt with is FIRST EXTENDED. The coverage is almost exactly like the GMPP warranty. The car must not be over a certain age. The one downside is that the warranty overlaps from the original date of service. The policy will cover almost any issue. I had the policy on a used '96 Impala SS for five years and multiple expensive repairs. The policy was obtained through the selling GM dealership and there was never any issue with coverage while we owned the SS.
I looked into an extended warranty years ago for my 99, which when purchased wouldn't qualify for a GMPP. Most have very strict language on ANY modifications that you do or have already been done to the car...I felt most were just looking for a reason to deny a claim.....
IMHO the GMPP is the best warranty out there. I don't sell them, but have that warranty on both of our family vehicles, and on the last 5. They are a great company to deal with.

Saved my bacon on mine but it came with the car when I bought it.

GMPP saved my A$$! But they will not renew a 3rd time.
