Default Painted my REAR

So I painted my rear, flat black yesterday. It was very easy, just took my time to do it right. Did it in maybe 3-4 hours or so. It looks good with the carbon spoiler. I think I may nightshade the back up lights now as well..... What I'm most surprised about and didn't realize is that it really makes my mufflers pop. They kind of just blended in before and didn't really look like anything special. I use metal polish on them all the time, so they are quite shiny, man do they stand out now, they look great.

Sorry I don't have a better pic, but the camera just won't get the rest of the car while it's in the garage, it's too bright out.....my garage is angled down and I couldn't start my car yesterday to pull it out into the sun for pics.

Maybe I'll do it today. Whatcha think?

Looks great! You might want to invest in a set of the rear fascia inserts that prevent the lower fascia from drooping due to the heat from the mufflers. It appears you have a little bit of flex going on.

I noticed that but I thought it was supposed to be that way because the two sides are perfectly uniform. I guess maybe they're not?!?!

Have a link of what your talking about?

I just walked out to the car, mine isn't actually drooping both sides are actually up a little bit. Thanks for the link though, interesting product.

the spoiler is from http://www.corvettecreationz.com/

QuickZ06 is the owner, he is a member here, I bought directly from him and I love the spoiler, very unique. Had to have a carbon spoiler

Looks like you did a very good job with the paint. Sure goes well with the lighter blue color.

well kind of..... don't really spend much time there though. I have to have my stang and vette registered out of our family home in illinois (kane county, home in sugar grove near aurora) because there are no emissions standards there. My car is usually here in Palm Springs CA and Portland, both of which have strict emmisions.

Thank you for the nice comments everyone...

To address some questions

-I'll pull the car out of the garage and take some pics, post them up tonight.
-I did tape it off myself. I don't have a ton of paint experience or anything but it's really very easy if you have the right stuff. I used this stuff http://www.google.com/products/catal...CAwQ8wIwATgA#p It contours to the curve perfectly. Then of course use some painters tape with a cheap plastic tarp. I got some green painters tape from ACE maybe $4...and the tarp was $3 ..... The pinstripe was maybe $4?
-The paint is rustoleum universal all surface paint...flat black... One of the main reasons why i went with that one is because it can be held in any position (upside down, tilted, etc) without disrupting the spray. There's some angels that you'll need to spray and contort the can, if you do that with a normal spray can it will shoot globs out and mess it all up.
-I cleaned with liquid dish soap. Then pinstriped and taped it all off and tarped it. I then wet sanded lightly with 600 sandpaper from ACE. Then rubbed it all down with alcohol. Then sprayed 4 coats, 10 mins in between. Then just let her sit.
-the exhaust is corsa daytona. always get other vette owners asking about them, don't know why you don't see more of these anywhere, I think they couldn't look any better

Post up some more pics tonight, thanks again guys for the nice comments
