I am going to purchase a set of Michelin tires. They make several different quality tires. What is recommended for the soft and quite ride. Thank you !!!
If you're buying runflats get Pilot Sport AS+ZP 95Y runflats. I've tried the original goodyears (they sucked) and two sets of Kuhmo runflats but these Michleins are the greatest I've ever had. They have a high mileage rating (which is hard to get with tires for vettes, they're very comfortable, handle very well on dry and wet surfaces, etc).
Just installed Michelin Pilot Sports A/S Plus Run Flats.
The ride was greatly improved. I actually can hear the stereo and the Corsa exhaust even sound better.
I would suggest changing the TPMS, got a great price from Gene Cully, GM Parts.

Went with PS A/S ZPs 3 years ago and they still look like new. Handling difference and noise level unbelievable. Michelin includes road hazard warranty in the price of the tire. Got best price from DTD as they include free shipping.
Now I hear they have A/S + ZP. Believe they are very similar to the ones I have.

I have the Pilot Sport A/S Plus Run Flats and they've been great, much quieter than my old Goodyear run craps.
Forgot to add that Tire Rack had a really great price on the AS+ZP's. Just a couple of dollars more than the Kuhmos. A really great deal
Make sure they are the "Plus" models, if not the A/S ZP first generation were horrible on wear, they were gone before they hit 20,000 miles. The Plus model was introduced nearly two years ago (Sept 08) along with the PS2 ZP, where the A/S Plus ZP model being a second generation tire, in which they reformulated the rubber compound and fixed the wear issue. The Plus model has a 500 wear rating, giving you about 50,000 miles life. And they have "Plus" imprinted on the sidewall.
Tire Rack could be dumping really old stock. In general the A/S Plus ZP is not really expensive, you can usually get all four mounted and balanced - out the door at Discount Tire for around $1100.
Oh the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP is the OEM tire for Corvette ZR1.
Sorry one more thing: the width of the A/S ZP tire is about an inch narrower when compared to the OEM Goodyear F1 Eagle EMT or the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP. It is a noticeable difference. Some people just don't like it. Personally after two sets of A/S the next set will be the PS2 ZP, I want that width back.

I just replaced a set of Michelin Pilot Sports (non run-flat) that I put 46,000 miles on with a set of the new Michelin PS2 (non run-flat). The PS2 is a softer summer tire (wear rating 220) while the AS Plus is an all season harder tire (wear rating 500). I want to have more fun with my 700 hp!
Placed my order this past Monday for Michelin's Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP just before Michelin's $70 rebate on a purchase of a set of four was due to expire. I checked when I placed my order and was assured (after they checked) that my tires were manufactured (according to tire date code) no earlier than 2009 possibly 2010 from the shipping warehouse. I'll know when I received them tomorrow. You can't get much newer than that.
TireRack is not "dumping" old stock. An inquiry into the date code of the tires that you're purchasing can / will assure you of a top quality product.
I went with the A/S Plus ZP because of Michelin's 6 year / 45k mile tread life warranty on these tires where the PS2 ZP's tread life warranty is non-existent.
My choice was a no brainer for a top-rated street tire that can provide some semblance of longevity and comfort on road trips. I would set up another set of wheels and tires for more spirited activity.
Under $1k including shipping, delivered for four top rated tires is a great deal when most tire dealers / "wholesalers" cannot get within 200 to 300 close to TireRack's price. My GM dealer would not price match TireRack... they couldn't. Under $900 including shipping, delivered after rebate is unbelievable!

Besides not having the $ right now...the Michelins being not as wide would stop me....maybe they will make them wider in future ?
Four spanking new Michelin A/S Plus ZPs arrived today from TireRack. Thanks, Colin! The date code on these babies interprets to a manufacturing date of November 2009 for the 275/40ZR18s and April 2010 for the 245/45ZR17s.
It would be difficult to obtain new rubber fresher than that.
I have to add that Brittany is the jewel in TireRack’s customer service. When tracking of my 2 package 4 tire purchase appeared to go astray she detail checked to assure me that both packages were on schedule… to my relief.
TireRack rocks! They’re a five star vendor for Sales and Customer Service!
IK1964, good luck to you on whatever your decision may be and enjoy the ride.
