Default sway bars?

I've. been hearing about upgrading using either Z06 or c-6 sway bars etc. Can anyone give me a brief description on exactly which to use, cost and difficulty?

Most people are installing the C6 Z51 sway bars. Search the forum and you will find a link for the sale on this from the GM Parts House. I think they run just over $200.00 which is both front and rear with new bushing.

If your going to upgrade why not to a set of Hotchkis or Pfadts. I know many guys go to Z51 but you still only have a minor upgrade in comparison. I went from C5Z bars to Pfadt race bars it was like going from a Volkswagon to a Ferrari.

Yes, you're best to go with the C6 Z51 sway bars. I have them with the free poly bushing upgrade. Send me an email or give me a call if you're interested.

The C6 Z51s are popular here. Upgrade to the metal end links also.

From CF Vendor Parts Taxi:

Z51 Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit - Our most popular bar kit. Kit includes front and rear stabilizer bars and bushings for Z51. We are now proud to offer our customers the choice or either OEM bushings, or polyurethane (poly) bushings from Pfadt Racing for the same price of -$192.21

Don't forget the upgraded metal end links, especially you C5 guys.

Just did the C6 Z51 bars, shocks and end links....love em

Some info if you're llooking at the difference in sizes:

Sway Bars Front / Rear (mm)
C5 Base FE1...........23.0...19.1
C5 FE3 Z51 97-99..25.4...21.7
C5 FE3 Z51 00-04..28.6...23.6
C5 FE4 Z06.............30.0...23.6
C6 Base..................25.5...17.5
C6 Z51...................30.9...25.6
C6 Z06...................31.0...27.9
C5 Hotchkis............31.8...25.4
C5 T1.....................38.4...27.5

They say if you are running stock sized tires, the C6 Z51 set up is about as wide as you want to go to keep the anti-sway stiffness in line with the tire grip.

WOW
Thanks guys, great responses.
It looks like C-6 Z-51 is the way to go for both cost and simplicity.

I have a base 2001 coupe with stock size tires and upgraded to the c6 Z51 sways and c6 Zo6 shocks. I stuck with rubber bushings and still have the platic links because I wanted to keep some lean and compliancy. The shocks are not what some people think and by that I mean that they are not super stiff, instead they are just a lot better dampened and do a much better job of bringing the car back to nuetral quicker when hitting dips and bumps. My car is not a slot car at this point but it corners head and shoulders better than stock and I feel that in may ways it rides much better than stock.

Do you reccommend the poly or stock bushings for a non track car?

I would go with the C6Z51 bars. I'm using C5Z bars just because I found a set $75 for the bars and all four metal endlinks!!
