Default Jeffy lube!!

HI,
ok went to the jeffy lube about two blocks from my house just to have the oil changed..And i brought them the oil and filter, Witch was a wix.

And Mobil 1 5-30 oil, ok after the oil change i came home a waited tell the next day to go out and check the oil, Well as i pull the dip stick out and wip it off 3 times to make sure i was reading it right.. They had never drained all the old oil out because i was like a quart over on oil..Half inch or more over the hatch marks on my dip stick.

I was in a hurry that day because i do all my oil changes my self. But for this day. Never again will i go back.

So i drove me vette up on my ramps and took about a quart of oil out of it tell it now reads right at the top of the cross hatch mark on my dip stick.

So i will never do that one again And i new it had to be wrong because they never lefted up the back end to get that last little bit of oil out of it like i do. But my Fault for even thinking i will just go in for a fast oil change..WRONG. but now its all good and i just had to say to you Forum members..Some of you might have good luck at Jeffy Lube's..But not me

I think a Quart over should not hurt my motor..but i never do that..its always just on the full mark..ok i'm done venting.

Still a good thing that you checked their work. This just confirms why I do my own oil changes too.

Jiffy Lube, No way, I lift my rear up also, But if they didn't it will only leave a ounce or maybe 2 in the pan, Did they put in 7 qts? or the 6.5 as it should be?

What is Jeffy Lube? Something you use with your "partner" Jeffy???

J/K

They probabably didn't let it drain long enough (they can not lift the rear higher), and put in 7 quarts instead of 6.5...

I agree on not going to those places either but just a quick question...

How are they going to lift the rear of your vehicle?? You either drive over a pit or onto a scissor lift or such. Not only that those places dont have 1/2 hr to spend letting some dudes oil drip out either. Im not defending them just making a point of what should be known before going is all.

Man you guys are harsh,,,we All know he was referring to Jiffy Lube and hash marks!! His experience is the reason I also DIY on my oil changes as well!! Sloppy work habit annoy the hell out of me too!! That little extra wouldn't hurt. I've read that the factory race teams actually run an extra quart as sustained high RPM pumps oil to the top end faster than it can properly drain back and can starve the bottom end on hard cornering!! Good judgment on checking their work!!

I just heard a story just last week where a guy with a C6 Z06 took it to "Jeffy" lube and they only opened 1 of the two plugs. Only drained about a quart of oil out of the motor. They proceeded to fill with recommended amount for an empty motor. Guy drove the car down the road about a mile and all of a sudden a thick cloud of smoke came out from the engine bay. The engine was toast. Fixed after a $17,000.00 repair bill to replace the engine. Either I do it myself or take it to the dealer. no "Jeffy" lube for me.

they put in 6.5 qts, But then all i can think is they did not let it drain out all the way to be a quart over..And yes i did give them 7 qts and they gave me back a half Quart left it one of the bottles.

And i did watch them put my oil in it..But i could not see them down in the pit draining it out..so i dont know how much they got out of it befor putting the oil bolt back in the pan.

Yes i under stand..But it should have not taken a 1/2 hr to get the oil out of it..they had to put the bolt like right back in to leav a Quart still in my motor..c'mon..A little i can see, But a Quart..To much for my Blood..Its my fault for taken it to them, so thats why i will never go back.

Yeah, they must have put the plug back in right after the initial blast of oil slowed down, leaving a fair bit left in the pan.
At least you learned your lesson!

Before I moded the Vette I took it to a Jiffy Lube in Fayetteville. Took them the filter and oil. In my case the following happened.
Drove it home parked it when I went to leave the next morning to do PT with the guys I saw some oil on the ground. Weird but hell it wasn't a puddle. But i happened everywhere I went. So i took her home ramped her, not only did they not use the filter I gave them and used a piece of crap Delco, but the drain plug screw was loose and I took the dip stick out and I was about a 1 quart short.

Never again I called the regional manager and his exact words where "What do you want me to do..." What a fu%$*ng tool.
