Default Replace Tenasmission with ?

I'm still weighting my options to repair to replace my M12 transmission. Other than just going to GM and buying a trans from them what other good options are there?

Contact a few vendors on here for a nice prepared transmission tailored to your driving style and needs.

Contact Mike at Eastcoast Performance Corvette's.
Tickshift and a few others.

Install the new TR-6060 if you have the $$$$.

RPM Transmissions. Got my differential from them and am very happy. When my trans goes I will be ordering Level 5.

I'd get an RPM built trans or a TR6060... The TR6060 is vastly superior to the stock MN12 we get. But if I had to take my pick between a TR6060 and an RPM built trans, I'd go with RPM because there's less issues with putting the trans back in the car. The TR6060 will require some modding and a different cradle, I believe.

Here's the low down on the swap...big $$$ though.

RPM. I have their differential, and when I break the tranny, I'm putting a level 5 in also.

I went with RPM Level 5 with mechanical cooler and it's been great. I run the car on the track absolutely no issues

It's a really hard decision, but it's one that I need to make very soon. My mechanic has a spot that's going to be open in the shop in a couple of weeks. I've talked to a few of our supporting vendors and I'm sure they would all do a good job. I think that buying a tranny is the easy way out, it makes the turn around time at the shop faster. Having mine rebuilt saves some money but I'm not sure how the mechanic feels about tying up the spot at the shop. Some have tried to tell me just to buy a new one from GM for the better warranty. I can't decide.

You're probably right, it's just too bad that's the most expensive option. But I guess you do get the best warranty, do you have to a core if you buy a trans from GM?

If you plan to do HPDE (road course events) consider going with a M6 transmission from RPM.

I would really like to get the RPM Level 5. I'm just paranoid, I don't want to have a problem with a new transmisson. I talked to Todd and had a good feeling and buying a transmission sure works better for the change out compared to shipped mine to be rebuilt. But on the other hand sending mine to be rebuilt might be the overall safest choice. And I'm still trying to make up my mind on the clutch.

I've had my 03 Z06 running a couple weeks now with a new clutch and trans. Love my RPM Level 5 trans! Shifts feel like stock, but I know the durability is waaay better! Just order a new trans from them and send in your old trans later! Thats what I did!

Blu, that's really what I think I will do. Sure works out better for the changeout. I think that I will probably buy the Centerforce clutch also.

Hi Paul, we can build your T56 into a Level 5 trans for $1299, PLUS we will give you a complete list of all the items we replace in your transmission, I do know that most places will NOT itemize a complete list of replaced parts, BUT WE DO...We will also give you a warranty on the parts and Labor for your rebuilt transmisson...

I will be glad to go over everything with you, just give me a call...

Make sure and ask about our custom built T56's, where we turn your T56 into a TR6060...and you can choose between 3 different ratio's..

Also its real important to know what type of driving you do and the amount of power you are putting to the ground now and in the future...

We only use the Best of the Best Quality Parts, but just remember the Best Built T56 will never hold even close to the amount of power the TR6060 will, nor the abuse either...

I guarantee you, we will give you the Best customer service & the Best Pricing, we specialize in just Corvettes!!!

Also we have the best deals on all Major Brand Clutches and the accessories, plus we have it all instock ready to ship to you...

I have a little over 5k on my RPM IV and am very happy with the smooth shifting. The folks at RPM were great to deal with.

Thats great, but I bet they did not give you an itemized detailed list of all the parts that RPM(they) replaced in your used transmission...

We at Eastcoast Performance beleive that If you pay for something that you should receive a list of what you paid for, correct...IMO...
