Default New Racing/Custom Seat Option for C5 and C6

We are finishing up the tooling for a new seating option for C5 and C6 Vettes. We are modifying the seat back shown below to be a direct bolt-on replacement for the stock C5 and C6 seats. The harness holes will be a different shape (two smaller individual holes) to avoid problems with the cables for the tilt-forward option on the factory seat backs we plan to retain. All o/e functions will remain on the C5 and all but the air bags on the C6.

We will provide a new cover for the seat bottom as well. We can make them in solid o/e leather colors or with perforated inserts, suede inserts, contrasting double stitching, etc.

For those who were ready to reupholster their seats anyway, this will be a another option. For those wanting to keep their power functions but have a seat with better support, offers leather and has harness capabilities, we believe this will be the great option.

We hope to start producing them next month. We don't have difinitive pricing yet but I'm sure there will only be 3 digits left of the decimal point per seat to avoid heart failure . All those interested should EMAIL ME DIRECTLY since I have started a folder of people to update as progress continues. That will be quicker than me responding to pm's individually.

Any possibility you could offer them in CLOTH with a cloth seat cover for the bottom? That would be an awesome product for comfort and functionality, and maybe not so pricy as long as enough folks go for it.

I think many would. Those of us who loved the cloth seats in the C4's know that cloth is more comfortable, holds much better in spirited driving, and actually wears better than most leather seats.

No problem at all. It won't make a huge difference in price, but maybe $100 or so in material savings per seat.

Yeah, leather sucks, it's cold in the winter and burns the heck out of you in summer with the roof off, and open car sitting in the summer sun can get up to 140+ deg F.

What a great idea!!! I've been looking at Corbeau seats for my 2000 FRC. I feel like I'm going to fall out of mine, I hate them. Will keep a close eye on this thread. thanks

Sure. I would recommend sending a sample first. Some materials have quite a bit of stretch to them and others none. That sometimes affects how the cover needs to be sewn.

Using the factory bottom, into the 40's. We will have the ability to widen the bottom bolsters of the seat back when needed.

Would be great to have an exact match to stock to be able to just change out the back and exactly match stock bottom for cost savings. Maybe do a core exchange if the backs are needed to modify for the new backs.

I'm in pending cost.

Looks like a great option for the car. Good luck getting it finished up and ready for market.

We do not use the existing back. It is a completely new frame.

We will make them in o/e leather colors but the chances of the back matching the bottom exactly is almost impossible. When you buy the same leather color from the same manufacturer at different times there are disclaimers for variances in dye lots. Most of the time they're close enough you may not tell the difference from one seat to another but within the same seat you normally notice a difference.

I know a supplier for automotive materials, so can get just about anything...what would you recommend and how many yards? Forget Alcantara, though!
