Default Console lighter???

Just received a new leather wrapped console and lid from carskinz and the lighter connection in the new console is totally different than the old one. The old one is a plug in connection and the new one just has three prongs sticking out the back?? Can't seem to figure out how to switch them out. Does anyone know how they are installed??? Can these be switched out of do I have to modify the conection??
Help!!

Not sure, But there 2 ways they are mounted. It can be pushed in or it will have a ring on the back to unscrew.

actually, the electrical connector in the console isn't a lighter it's a power outlet. it sounds (from your description) as if they put a cigarette lighter fixture into the power outlet hole. if that's the case and it is an OEM lighter, the outer "shell" that holds it into the mounting hole, unscrews from the base of the lighter fixture. the one that "pops" and locks into the hole has prongs around the outside that need to be compressed and then the entire part slides out (toward the inside of the console) to remove.

Thanks for the info..... The one in "my" console (with the plug in connection) has a black plastic ring looking deal on the back side apperantly holding it in the console. But I can't seem to turn or unscrew this ring. Feels like I will break things before it pops loose??? The one in the "new" console (with only prongs for a connection) seems to have a metal sleeve or something the full length of the lighter.
It does have a hex shape on the connection end of it but like the other one does not seem to "unscrew" from the lighter assembly??? Still a bit lost on how to switch these out?? Feel like a real jerk not being able to figure out a frickin light switch!!

the "sleeve" you described is actually the screwed onto the lighter base. it should unscrew (remember it is metal on metal and may bind a bit). the sleeve would come off the back end of the lighter base while the base would then be removed by pushing it forward through the hole into the console). it would probably be really helpful if you could take some pictures of what you have so that correct help can be provided. i have the console out of my car at the moment. what you describe is probably the difference between the lighter element and the power outlet element and how they are attached. when i removed my lighter from the ashtray area, it had the sleeve you described (which is pretty standard for a cigarette light assembly). i'll check what mine (in the console) looks like this evening and get back to you. i honestly haven't paid a lot of attention to it when i removed it other than to remove the wire connector to remove the how console.

From your discription they should both unscrew from the back side and slide out to the inside of the cosole. The correct one, or the one currently in my old cosole, has a very definite plastic ring on the back side I just couldn't seem to get it to unscrew for fear of breaking things!! Thanks for all your help!!
