Default Swapping Out Seats, will they work?

I bought a 02 Z06. It has the standard black, basic design Z06 seats in it. I really like the Torch Red Colors, and will be switching the interior to Torch Red. I also really like the Torch Red on the Sport seats. My question is, if I buy a set of sports seats for a C5, will all functions on the drivers side seat such as memory, ect work properly, as well as if the passenger sport seat is powered, is the plug already there to provide power to it, or will it be non funtional? thanks for your help.

You don't have to buy a complete set of seats. You can re-use your seat frames and buy new cushions and covers. The seat frames are the same in all C5's. B/L and post pic's

What are your plans for the door panels? I'm also interested in adding some mod red to my black door panels and am curious as to how other owners are planning the mod.

I have bought a Mod Red Interior including the Mod Red Door Panels, the Knee Bolsters, and the Z06 Mod Red Seats. I only needed the door panels, but had to pbuy the whole package to get them. I will be selling the Z06 Mod Red Seats, and I also have a extra set of the Mod Red Drivers Knee Bolster and Passenger Knee Bolster/Glove Box. Let me know if you are interested.

Still wanting to know though, if I swap out the entire seat set, can I gain power passenger seat usage, or is the wiring not there? I did consider changing out the just the seats and leaving the tracks, and I am planning on puttin new leather on what ever sport seats I put in, but I have not seen that many sets of just seats without tracks for sale. I have no reason to get a power passenger seat, just thought it may be neat to have.

There won't be a power plug under your passenger seat. I ran a hot lead and ground from my driver's seat to the passenger side. Splice these into your passenger's seat wiring. This will give you all controls except the lumbar/bolster. To get these to work you'll need a harness that goes from the footwell fuse box (or thereabouts) to under the seat (in which case you don't need to do the splice routine). I don't know where to get this item. If someone does know, I'm all ears. So far, though, no passenger has complained about not having these 2 adjustments.

Yeah,
I had wondered about that. I do not really know of anyone who is heads over heal about the bolster adjustments either. My concern was that if it is a Power seat, you will not be able to move it forward and backwards as well as up and down. I do have kids that like to ride in the vettes, so they do adjust the seats from time to time. I always try to keep all of the original equipment, in tact as it is supposed to be so I can always put the car back the way it was sold. That is the reason behind trying to find a complete set of seats.

Check with the folks at corvetterecycling or search for a Coupe or convertible being parted out in the for sale section. I'm sure someone would be happy to send it to you cheap.

I have power seats and never move my seat. Just another electrical thing to break down. Your better off w/out them.

IMHO the 2 lumbars and bolsters help to adjust the seat to fit you. I know it's not a seat for racing, but those 3 extra adjustment make a difference. If you don't do them with the sport seat, I think you'll end up wishing you had. Just find a car getting parted and put it together yourself.

I have to say, I love the Z06's, I have had three, two right now. I do not hate the basic seats they come with, but I do like the looks of the Sport Seats. I think the Sport Seats should have been in the Z06's all along, but I assume they were not because I know they were really trying to cut weight on the C5 Z06's, and the sports seats probably weigh a little more. I like the Z06 Embroidery at the top of the basic seats, but I think the hole in the neck area on the sports seats looks better, and a little less "Basic"

With all of that being said, I am changing out the interior on a 02 Yellow Z06 from Black to Red. I absolutly love the all Torch Red Sports seats, and I belive that with the Mod Red Doors and Knee Bolsters, as welll as red carpet I will be happy. I do not know what gets me about the yellow and red, but I have seen a couple of the Yellow Coupes with the all red sports seats, and I think it looks Great! No opions needed, my opinion is mine, and yours is yours, and you are not going to change my mind.

I agree with not moving the seats, I am 6' and my wife is to. We move the seats back all the way in every car and truck we own. I think the bolsters can help, but I have always been most comfortable with them fully relaxed, so they do not thrill me that much.

I think you answered your own question. Now buy a complete set of sport cushions and some red covers. You can custom order them & put the Zo6 logo on the head rest.

Jim,
You are correct. Here I was trying to buy yest another set of seats I did not need. I have already bought a Mode Red Interioror including the Door Panels, Knee Bolster, Glove Box, and Z06 seats just to get the door panels. That leaves me one set of seats, then I was going to buy a set of sports seats off of Ebay at about $1000.00 just to get what I thought were the Sport Seat frames I needed with no idea that the frames were the same. That will save me some big money. I guess I am going to order the leather kit from DJMOTORSPORTS. I am working on the foam.

ONE MORE QUESTION, If I purchase the sports seat cushions, do I need to be concerned about filling any voids created for the bolster adjustments, or will the cushions be OK without all of that?

The new foam will work just fine. Do a search a lot of the same venders who sell the covers sell the foam. Oh and if your bottom foam/cushion is in good shape I think you can re-use them. But check w/a seller first. Gene from GM House of Parts would know. G/L post pic's when your done.
