Default Vert glass separating + questions

I'm having a known issue where my rear glass in the convertible top is separating from the top. I've seen posts that suggest Rhino glue will work to glue it back in (though I need to find the post with Rhino glue ordering info). I've also seen posts recommending Zip Products replacements tops because they feel they are superior and many suggestions to go to Robbins Auto Top.

My question deals with the top itself. My dealer is telling me the 2001 top is discontinued. They say the 97-01 tops were one style and the 02-04 were different. I was going to get a warranty replacement before the top turned up discontinued. I'm being told they can't do the 02-04 top because it is a different part number and they won't do a warranty repair for a different part number.

Anyway, In some posts it is mentioned that the tops were new in 01-04 rather than 02-04. I know someone can get it wrong but I also thought I saw it in an old Edmunds write up for the 2001 model year that GM had improved the convertible top in 2001.

Here's one post mentioning the better top for including 01. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1567539885-post2.html

I'm looking for the real scoop. I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks

The 02's got the redesigned weatherstrip where the top meets the tonneau cover.

My window seperated from my top in my 2000. I wedged pillows behind it and got it nice and tight in there then pulled up on the edges from the outside and put a bead of black silicone around it. I used my fingers to press the outside edges and then I weighed the edges down with some square pieces of steel. I let it sit for 2 days and then used a razor to clean the excess. That was 3 years ago and it is still holding up in the blazing hot South Florida sun.. You can not tell it was repaired.

If that is the dealer telling you that, call GM Customer Service at 1-800-263-3777. If they are giving you the run around, it will magically disappear when they get the call from corporate. I did it with an exhaust and presto, fixed.
