c5 ls1 running rich
I have a 2000 c5 that is running rich. It seems to be worse when you first start it up. When it warms up it is better. The check engine light is on and my tail pipes are are black and smutty. please help.

Clean you MAF. I had the same issue awhile back. I would blow a ton of smoke out under hard acceleration. I thought I had leaky valve stems, but it turned out to be a dirty MAF. No smoke anymore after cleaning MAF and adding some Restore.

I would in this order:
Pull DIC Codes. Depending on what you find
Clean MAF
Maybe change O2 sensors
Change Plugs, check coils, wires.
Check battery wires/grounds
Check alternator voltage regulator
It will run rich if it get's bad readings from the o2 sensor. It will also run rich if it gets a weak fire and doesn't burn all the fuel.
