Got my Vette back yesterday...

Second time, broken valve spring- replaced the whole motor with a crate 2004 LS6 straight from GM.
Replaced clutch (just cuz I had the motor apart and there was about 50K on the clock)
Replaced ABS valve and ECBM module (or vice versa)
Replaced upper tensioner within 2 weeks
Lower tensioner went out shortly thereafter...
Where are we? Oh, yeah... this time (lost count)
Rear End: retainer, gaskets, carrier ($1,706.00)- gear lube, additive...
Lower tensioner: $105.00 + labor $260.00 on that dealio
Replace Clutch disc, Throw Out bearing, the pilot bearing was jammed farther up on the shaft...uhhhhh... yeah- pretty cool groove dug into shaft too...
Plate $389
Cylinder $197
Bearing $20
Gaskets, etc all together around $900.00
Drove off the lot and stalled out... no codes thrown- imagine that!
Steering Column Lock Actuator magically went out...
Total on invoice (not counting flat tire or collision repair due to dealership plowing over the car on their lot)-- $4,151.08
Last time the motor (and the improperly installed clutch) added up to around $12,000.00
Now, I did fix the flat. Funny, when I start the car up in the morning the lower tensioner is squealing away just like before.
I LOVE MY CAR!
I mentioned trading it back to the dealership that I bought it from (who also provides the warranty)-- I just can't believe they don't want it back... I mean, damn-- isn't it like brand new now?
(Sarcasm noted-- or is it cynicism?) Did I spell that correctly? I'll take a vowel for $2000.00

Did read where this fiasco was still under warranty, didn't I?....

Either way, it's a sad tale

Oh yeah! I started out with {where I bought it}- then the work was contracted out (across the street where the faulty work was done on clutch) then I requested the dealership just to insure authorized GM parts this time. The next time will be a Performance Shop. I've still got 40,000 + 12,000 on the warranty to see if it's gonna run right.
You know, the first thing they do is ask for service records in an effort to search for any negligence on my behalf. I've been stellar in that department. Car is bone stock.
Alex, when this all began, there was a little under 25K on the clock. The second time (valve spring) was 50K (exactly 50)- now I've got just under 10 on the new motor.
I've NEVER abused or mis-used this car. I've NEVER redlined it (or even come close)- I change the oil BEFORE the DIC readout tells me to. I also change the tires and air filter often. The car is immaculate (on the outside)-- the internal organs...
Well, it remains to be seen.
I still love this damn car. I don't know how to explain it. Its not the car's fault really. I believe that when the new motor was put in, it was just so strong that all the weak links gave out.
I want to own and love this car (still) when I'm old and decrepit. I'm just frustrated right now b/c it needs to go BACK AGAIN and I really don't know where to send it. The people that do the faulty work obviously aren't qualified to do the work in the first place, so why shouldn't I take it somewhere else? That's logic, but NOT reality.
These shops stand to lose a significant amount of business if the financer of this car stops using them. They are given an opportunity to make it right.
The other part that just FLOORS me is that this is a freaking CORVETTE!!! It deserves "technical" attention. I'm not asking them to put brakes on a 1982 Honda Civic.
Once the dealership ran over my car, they were pretty much obligated to do ALL of the repairs.
This is my third Vette. I don't see any easy solutions here. If someone does, please PM me and let me hear your opinions.
