How do you replace the negative battery cable in a C5?
I have a new battery, however the negative cable/connector has some corrosion. I cleaned it off, however would like to replace it. Any "how to" advise or links specific to the C5?
Where do you unbolt it? I'm looking to replace the corroded negative connector cable. Can I connect a new one at the top of the cable near the battery, or do I need an entirely new negative cable? If so, where does the bottom of the cable, underneath the battery tray, connect to?
It's bolted to the frame under the battery tray. if you pull the battery and tray out you should be able to trace it easily.
I used some generic 8 gauge wire to make a new battery cable entirely when the clamp got loose on my factory one. Swapping took a few minutes.
Thanks. I would like to simply to replace the negative cable with a like-for-like cable and connection with black flip-cap. I will check with Gene to see if he has the part. Anyone else already do this?

I can't seem to find where it connects to the frame. I've removed the battery tray and tried to trace it back. Does it connect to the starter like the positive battery cable?
Also, anyone know the part # for the plastic top that covers the connector on the battery post? By looking at the various GM Battery diagrams on vendor sites, it looks like side post connections, however my 2004 OEM had top post connections. Did this change over the model run between 1997-2004? Hard to order by parts # only.
