Okay, I know this has probably been asked many times and yes I have done searches and looked at a lot of tire questions. I just bought a 2000 FRC which has the C5 Z06 wheels on it; 17" on front and 18" on the rear. Car currently has Nitto P245/45ZR17 tires on front and Nitto 285/35ZR18 drag radials on rear.
My parameters are as follows in selecting new tires for the car:
1. Car will be 100% street driven, but not a daily driver
2. No run flats
3. I want tires which are as quiet as possible as far as road noise, etc.
4. Something which will give me as good a ride as possible, but still be
able to perform well.
*Note: May upgrade performance/engine sometime in future for more HP
What would you guys recommend?
Anybody have any good used tires you want to sell?
Car and Driver tested 10 tires using Michelin PS2's as the benchmark.
They had to be <$160 ea.
The Dunlop came out the winner.
I've got PS2's, and they're a great tire, but I refuse to pay another $1200 when it's time to replace them. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...r_spec_page_11

Just replaced the original Goodyears at 26K miles with Michelin PS2's. They are amazing tires. Ride and handling have improved dramatically and very quiet, although I may be losing my sense of hearing. Seriously, I am 100% satisified with these run flat tires.
quick question sorry for taking over but what is the widest tire that you can put on the back? of the stock 5 spoke rims? also i have 245 on the front and they rub what do you guys run?
You don't mention what width the wheels are, but here's some tire recommendations:
Michelin PS2
Firestone Wide Ovals
Hankook Ventus V12 (I just bought a set of these but haven't had them mounted yet)
I spent a couple of hours researching and pretty will had it down to doing the Hankook Venturas V12 tires. Good price and very good reviews overall, but it doesn't appear that they have the sizes I want to go with. I would like to stay with the stock 265/40/17 fronts and 295/35/18 rears. At least on their website they don't seem to offer those sizes. Anybody know for sure on this?

Thanks for this reference. This is really a good article, if you take time to dig down through it.
